Four factors drive every Pokemon card price. Understanding them saves you from selling below market or paying above it.
Every Pokemon card can exist in dozens of printings. First edition, unlimited, shadowless, reverse holo, non-holo, promo, and international variants all price separately. Two Base Set Charizards from 1999 can be worth $500 or $20,000 depending on print run. Always identify the set code and card number before checking a price.
Every price you see online assumes Near Mint condition. A crease, whitening on the edges, or a scratched holo can cut a card's value by 50 to 85 percent. Before quoting a price to a buyer, check for wear on the corners, edges, surface, and centering.
Slabs from PSA, CGC, BGS, SGC, and other grading companies multiply value at the top of the scale. A PSA 10 Base Set Charizard sells for around $12,000. Look at the bottom-left or bottom-right of the card. The format is usually 123/456 or SWSH123. This tells you exactly which printing you have. Get this wrong and every price you see will be off by an order of magnitude.

The raw price is what a Near Mint ungraded copy sells for. The PSA 10 row shows what a top-grade slabbed copy is worth. Compare the two before deciding whether grading is worth the fee. On modern cards the gap is usually 3 to 5 times. On vintage cards it can be 20 times.
